Faerie Moon Spirit Newsletter
July 2005
Welcome to the first issue of Faerie Moon Spirit, the newsletter.   This newsletter is born
from love and a desire to connect more deeply within a spiritual community.

My name is Deanna Joseph, and I started “Faerie Moon Spirit” a few years ago as a
way to reach out into my own community.   That desire took physical form as the Unity
Lightworkers and became a real-life group that meets several times a month in Yucaipa,
California, to discuss the paranormal and metaphysical.    From that my website, www.
faeriemoonspirit.com was born and I found myself reaching out into the far realms of the
internet.

Since then I have met many wonderful people, both local and from around the world, all
journeying across the seemingly unknowable territory of the metaphysical.   Many
people walk a path that is not clearly laid out before them.   My hope is to be of some
assistance to those along the way.

Riding Rainbows

I will never forget my first visit to a wonderful metaphysical store, The Crystal Rose, in
Highland, California, back in the 1980s.   I was just beginning to open to the miracles
around me; excited yet cautious, wanting to believe in something greater than I, yet still
doubting.   I was quietly browsing through the crystals while the owner and another
patron chatted intently about their astral travel experiences.   I tried not to stare open
mouthed and wide-eyed as they spoke of the astral presences they ran into, the spirit
guides they spoke with and the rainbows they rode upon.   At that point in my spiritual
awakening I was not quite ready to hear that craziness and would have found myself
scooting toward the door had a green tourmaline pendant not caught my eye.    As luck
would have it, the pendant was much more than I could afford at the time, so I put it on
layaway.  This meant another visit to the crazy metaphysical store.

Of course, by the next visit, I couldn’t wait to come back yet again, and found myself
stopping there on my way home from work frequently just to browse and soak up the
atmosphere.  Over the next few years I found many stores like this, each full of wonder
and magic, and I met many people, all riding high on the rainbows of psychic
experience.  I started feeling envious, wanting these psychic experiences for myself.  I
even got a tarot deck thinking it would somehow make me psychic.  When the tarot didn’
t work, I tried runes.  When runes didn’t work I tried something else.

I became convinced that intuitive and psychic abilities were truly gifts, and you had to be
lucky enough to be born with them.  People like me would just have to be content
dreaming about them.

And dream I did!  I started keeping a dream journal, and discovered that not only did I
have precognitive dreams, but I was also having past life dreams.  I was afire!  I started
paying attention to little signs I would receive during the day.  The more I paid attention,
the more I received.  Pretty soon I found I was even following intuitive nudges.

Intuitive abilities are a Divine gift, bestowed upon us all.   Some people may have an
easier time accessing them than others, but everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has
intuitive abilities.   Just think of your intuition as a big muscle.  Is it flabby or is it tone?
How much of a work out does it get?   Decide you are an intuitive and then act like one.
Keep your eyes open for synchronicities, pay attention to signs.   Start recording your
dreams.   When you receive a “hunch” pay attention to it instead of just brushing it off.

Psychic experience always seems brilliant with color when described by someone else,
and may make us feel like our own experiences pale in comparison.

It’s now almost 20 years later, and though I have managed chats with spirit guides I still
haven’t ridden upon any rainbows.   I have come to believe that living our spirituality is
not about the tarot decks we have or the crystals we play with or riding psychic
rainbows.  It’s about seeing the miracles that are already around us, and allowing
ourselves to believe that truly we are already Divinely gifted.

A Bit About Rising Signs

The Rising Sign (also known as the Ascendant) is the sign in your first house on the day
you are born, and is not necessarily your Sun Sign.    Did you know that your Rising
Sign influences your personality almost as much as your Sun Sign?  The Sun Sign
shows who we are deep down while our Rising Sign shows who we are on the surface.

So at first glimpse someone may seem shy and withdrawn, yet as you get to know that
person they appear to actually be very bubbly and cheerful.   This could be attributed to
the differences in their Rising and Sun signs.

If you would like to know your Rising Sign, visit http://janspiller.com/ for a free copy of
your astrological chart.   You will need to know you date of birth, time of birth and city of
birth.

Aries Rising:  Daring, adventurous, bold, difficulty maintaining relationships.

Taurus Rising:   Grounded, patient, wants financial security, can be a bit jealous of
others’ possessions.

endeavors.

Cosmic Influences for July:

During the month of July Uranus, Neptune and Pluto will all be retrograde.    Pluto in
retrograde helps us to recognize that which is no longer needed in our lives.  This can
sometimes be a difficult undertaking, but take heart…. Neptune in retrograde carries
with it the magnificent and magical energies of dreams and intuition, while Uranus in
retrograde brings out your inner artist and causes a creative surge.   So pay attention to
your inner guidance, and allow your creative energy to flow.

Mercury Retrograde July 22, 2005 at 7:59pm (PST) through rest of month.     Now
before you go shutting down all your electronic equipment and locking yourself away for
three weeks I’m here to tell you there is hope!   Mercury Retrogrades don’t have to be
that bad.   Sure, there are more communication problems, and sure, computers seem to
crash at the most inopportune times, but really Mercury just cannot be blamed for all the
chaos.  Some of it we do ourselves with no help from the Messenger planet.  Take this
time to enjoy yourself and have some fun.  Stop and smell the roses, literally!  Go to a
movie or get a massage.   Use this Mercury Retrograde as a time to relax and recharge
your spirit.

New Moon in Cancer:  Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 5:02 am (PST).     Take advantage
of having both the Sun and Moon in this emotional intuitive energy by doing workings
geared toward psychic development and emotional release.

Full Moon, Thursday, July 21 at 4:00 am (PST).   This month’s Full Moon actually goes
void-of-course at precisely the time of the full moon.  However, most of us will be
enjoying the full moon either the night before while the moon is in Capricorn or the night
after while the moon is in Aquarius.

If you celebrate while the moon is in Capricorn, you may like to focus your workings on
getting financial prosperity from doing something you love to do.  If you celebrate while
the moon is in Aquarius you may like to focus your workings on visionary and
humanitarian causes.

Book of the Month:

Faery Healing – The Lore And The Legacy
By Margie McArthur

This is probably one of the most enchanting and magical books on Faery Lore that I
have ever read.   Well researched and well thought out, “Faery Healing” takes the
reader way beyond the fluff and rainbows of the “Tinkerbell” type fairy and into the real
world of the Fey.   It provides a very strong foundation for the beginner, and has a
wealth of information that will keep even the advanced student interested and
absorbed.

Faery Healing is broken up into five parts, and each chapter contains exercises that help
the reader to more deeply connect into the Faery Realm.  Part one takes the reader
through the origins of the Celtic Faery Healing Tradition.  Part two is on faery ailments,
their cures and a materia medica of both stones and herbs.   Part three gives
suggestions for actually working with the Faery.   Part four is the manual for faery
healing, and includes a map for traveling throughout the faery realm.  Part five is the
appendices and bibliography, which include an excellent reading list and a list of the
Faery Festivals.

I find Ms. McArthur’s writing enjoyable and easy to understand, and would highly
recommend it to both the beginning and advanced student of the Celtic Faery Healing
tradition.

Stone of the Month:

My choice for July is Manganocalcite.   Manganocalcite is a member of the calcite
family.  It is a beautiful pale peachy pink and embodies the energies of unconditional
love.   To me this stone is a little different than some of the more common stones for
love.  Not only does it embody Divine Love, it also carries with it the most incredible
nurturing loving energy I’ve ever felt in a stone spirit.   I would highly recommend
connecting with a piece of Manganocalcite for anyone interested in healing past traumas
or just needing the additional support of a nurturing Spirit.

Movie Quote of the Month:

“I like you just the way you are” from Bridget Jones Diary.

When I first saw this movie, I found myself identifying with the main character in that it
seemed that I had always been striving for “something” so that I could be “happy.”
What I found was that I really needed to be happy first then go after my goals.  If we
have to loose weight, get rich, live in a bigger house, or have the perfect job before we
allow ourselves to be happy, then we are missing out on some pretty magical moments.
And chances are if we are putting restrictions on what it takes to make us happy, then
when we do accomplish our goals we will still find ourselves unhappy.

Nothing outside of us can make us happy.   Happiness comes from within.   Thin or fat,
rich or poor, we have to first like ourselves “just the way we are.”

Q & A

The following are my opinions only….

Question:  Are there such things as soul mates and will I want to divorce my wife if I
meet my soul mate?

Answer:   Oh I definitely believe in soul mates.   But I believe we can have many soul
mates.  If you believe in reincarnation then it’s easy to believe that many of us have
been together before.   We have formed many relationships in many lives, and it stands
to reason that in this life we would resonate with the vibration of that person and
naturally have stronger feelings towards them.  But just because we meet someone we
are sure is a soul mate, this is not sufficient reason to divorce our spouse.    If you think
about it, you may have been married several times in many lives.   Can you imagine the
chaos that would cause in this life if you felt compelled to have a relationship with each
and every one of these people?

It is comforting to be around the familiar and loving energy of a soul mate.   But we are
also here in this life to meet and form new loving relationships.

Question:   I have been wanting to learn crystal healing, yet I only have a few crystals.   I
was told that I had to own several specific (and expensive) crystals before I could
become a crystal healer.  Is there a way around this???

Answer:   I believe that crystals in and of themselves are higher spiritual beings.   They
are drawn to people just as people are drawn to them.    You may have in your
possession a rose quartz, and sure “the books” may say that it has a specific purpose,
but in my opinion that can be very limiting.   A crystal or stone knows much more than
we do, and I wholeheartedly believe that we should allow the crystals in our care to
guide us in healing others.   If you own one crystal or a hundred, it does not matter.
Meditate with your crystals before the healing session and “feel” which ones want to be
included.   You may find yourself very surprised at the crystals that do and don’t want to
participate.

I would stick with the crystals you have.   Spend time getting to know them.   I think you
will be pleasantly surprised at what they can accomplish.

Thank You for your support!

In all your doings, be you blessed,
Deanna Joseph
