| Dreams are our nightly connection to Spirit. This connection provides us with important insights and information that help us through our lives and along our spiritual paths. Dreams come in many forms. They can sometimes be so highly symbolic that their true meaning remains a mystery. They can be precognitive, showing us a future event or they can be mundane answers to simple questions, such as “where did I leave my sunglasses?” So how do we work with our dreams? Most dreamworkers, myself included, would highly recommend keeping a dream journal. Every morning as soon as possible record your dream in your journal. Keeping a record of your dreams is extremely helpful because sometimes the message we receive is not obvious for a few days, weeks, months or even years. Sometimes we need to see several dreams together to get the message. We may be receiving precognitive or telepathic dreams, yet be unaware of this as they appear at first glance to be symbolic. Honor your dreams and listen to their messages. This means you may have to act on the message, even if it makes you feel silly. If you have a dream warning you of a car problem, have your car checked out. If you have a dream about a friend losing some important papers, tell them about the dream. Sometimes dreams can give us important health advice, or warn us of health problems. You will find that the more you listen and act on your dream messages, the more messages you will get and you will likely be saving yourself quite a bit of frustration. Working with the highly symbolic nature of our dreams. Dream symbols are extremely personal. The same symbol in the dreams of two different dreamers may have two completely different meanings. To one person a cigar may represent feelings toward their father, where another person may view the cigar as relating to health issues. When working with personal symbols, think of what the symbol means to you. Draw a picture of it. Describe it out loud as you would describe it to a Being from another planet who could have no idea what you were talking about. Even the dictionary can prove to be a very valuable tool when doing dream interpretations. Dream dictionaries can also be very helpful, but again, remember that each dream symbol is the author’s opinion and you may find your personal symbols vary from the dream book interpretations. Dreams are a fertile playground for our subconscious selves. When we allow ourselves to be guided through our dream experiences we bring ourselves closer to Spirit and our Higher Purpose. And by allowing ourselves to follow our true path, we allow ourselves to find true happiness. |
