| The Feeling of Trust There have been many times over the years where I have stopped to ask the question “Is there really someone there looking after me?” “Can you hear me??? Are you there?” And I’m sure I’m not the only one. How many times have you gone through a difficult period only to find yourself doubting in a Higher Power and instead lamenting over the difficulties you are facing? How many times have you found yourself feeling totally disconnected and alone? How many miracles do we have to witness before we can totally trust in the Divine? How much magic must fill our lives for us to totally let go and believe? These are questions I still ask myself, even after 20 years on a spiritual path. Then early in July a miracle came into our lives in the form of a 12 week old black Labrador mix puppy named Buffy. After only four days our playful puppy got sick, and a trip to the local vet confirmed she had parvo virus, a virus known to be deadly to puppies. The vet took her into quarantine to provide an aggressive treatment that would save her life. After two days I went to visit Buffy and she was extremely excited to see me. And I was very excited to see that she was making such great progress. My children were so worried about her and impatient to have her come home. When I was done visiting with her and I stepped out of the quarantined area she started to howl for me. I could hear the loneliness in her crying and it broke my heart. I knew she didn’t understand what was going on, and that we had to leave her there because it was for her very highest good. So there I stood, on the other side of the door, so close to her, silently cheering her on. She didn’t know that I was just a few feet away and wanted more than anything to just rush in there and comfort her. She couldn’t understand that the wonderful veterinarian staff was providing the very best care to get her healed as soon as possible. And she’d never know just how much my children and I wanted her to return home safely. All she knew at that very moment was isolation and loneliness. We have all experienced loneliness and the feelings of abandonment. What we don’t necessarily remember though is that right on the other side of the “door” there is someone silently cheering us on…. someone who wants us to feel comforted and who loves us dearly. We have our dreams, our intuitions and synchronicities to give us messages from the other side of that door. All we need to do is trust in them. As for Buffy, she is a very happy and loved puppy very much on the mend. A Bit About Moon Signs Last month I talked about how much our Rising Signs affect our personality. Well, did you know that your Moon Sign can also affect your personality as much as your Sun Sign. The Moon sign more closely reflects our true personality and emotions. So where someone may have the Sun Sign of Leo, which is a very outgoing sign, if their Moon Sign is in Cancer, they will actually be very emotional and withdrawn. If you would like to know your Moon Sign, visit http://janspiller.com/ for a free copy of your astrological chart. You will need to know your date of birth, time of birth and city of birth. Moon in Aries: Very energetic and inspiring, but can be demanding and impatient. Moon in Taurus: Very artistic, creative and caring, but can be a bit greedy and materialistic. Moon in Gemini: Very fun-loving and creative, but can be gossipy and scattered. Moon in Cancer: Very nurturing and intuitive, but can be over-sensitive and insecure. Moon in Leo: Very radiant and clever, but can be self-centered and arrogant. Moon in Virgo: Very disciplined and cares much for others, but can be fault-finding and critical. So don’t hold your breath for those energies to let go. Remember that this is a prime time to let go of that which no longer fits into your life, and pay attention to your dreams and intuitions and let your creative energies flow. August 4 – 8:05pm (PST) New Moon in Leo. Take advantage of these powerful Leo energies to focus on what sort of energies you are putting out, and getting to know yourself better. Work toward building a calm center and nurturing your leadership skills as well as nurturing empowerment in others. August 15 – 8:49pm (PST) Mercury goes direct. Breathe a sigh of relief! August 19 – 10:53am (PST) Full Moon. The moon will actually be “Void of Course” at the exact moment of the Full Moon. However, if you celebrate the night before the moon will be in Aquarius, and with the fire and passion of Leo, this would be the perfect time to work toward humanitarian and spiritual causes. If you celebrate the night after the moon will be in Pisces and you can use this time for inner reflection and meditation. * * * * * * * The following numerology forecast is by my friend Susie Tigerspirit. Change can happen without our consent, and many people find it difficult to deal with. “Who Moved My Cheese” is the story of mice and little people that live in a maze searching for cheese. As you may have guessed, the maze is a metaphor for life, and the cheese is a metaphor for what we want to get out of life. This is a simple and fun book that can help stimulate the desire to go with the flow rather than fight the flow of life. This book has been mocked as being overly simplistic and insulting to intelligent adults. It’s a parable….. it’s supposed to be simple. And simple is usually what soaks into our subconscious mind with the least effort. I’ve seen books that were 500 pages long trying to get across the same point that this little gem does in 94 pages. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has ever been faced with change, whether in the workplace or in their personal relationships, and finds it difficult to go with flow. * * * * * * * Stone of the Month: Agate This month’s stone selection is inspired by a beautiful agate pendant gifted to me by my friend Danielle for my 40th birthday. Agate is one of the sweetest energies I have ever run across and is truly one of my very favorite Stone Spirits. It is the wise teacher and spiritual adventurer, and will definitely lead you on a journey toward self-awareness. The most exciting part about working with Agate energies is that there are so many to choose from in just about every color you can imagine. And the Agate is both easy to obtain (found at local museums and Discovery Stores) and affordable, so don’t let the reasonable pricing and accessibility of the Agate fool you. They effortlessly hold their own against more expensive crystals and gems. Powerful and inspiring, Agate is more than a capable companion, and is indeed a special Spirit. * * * * * * * Movie Quote of the Month: “…. what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may in fact be the first steps of a journey.” From Lemony Snicket’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” Many of us have gone through what we may call “a series of unfortunate events.” The car breaks down, we are late for work and then get yelled at by the boss. And that’s if we are lucky. Some have had to endure much worse for much longer. But these series of events can also be a catalyst for something greater in our lives, if we allow it. Sometimes when life is smooth sailing, we don’t have the motivation to make any changes. Yet when we find ourselves living through a series of unfortunate events we may find new ways to change and grow, to express ourselves and our creativity and develop our own inner strength. The world is truly a beautiful place, and sometimes it takes a “series of unfortunate events” to allow us to see that beauty. * * * * * * * Q&A: Please note: The following are my opinion, and not in anyway to be considered the only and ultimate truth. Question: I know of several people who have changed their name because they entered into a magical community. I used to think this was ridiculous, but now I’m wondering. Should I get myself a magical name???? Answer: Changing names is not something new. In many societies a name change at different life stages is part of the culture. The most common name change known is of course a married woman taking her husband’s last name. In more earth based cultures it was not uncommon for the shaman to give a new name to someone who was always sick and could not seem to get well. The new name would throw off the invading spirits, so the person could become healthy again. And then of course sometimes people just hate their name, so they legally have it changed. Magical names are symbolic of the new “You” and the path you are following. Whatever you decide about choosing a magical name, it should be something that lifts your spirits and raises your vibration. For more on magical names visit: http://www.faeriemoonspirit. com/magickalnames.html Question: I went to visit a psychic a couple of months ago. She had been highly recommended. She gave me some wonderful information, but then none of it came true. I’ m so disappointed. Did she just tell me what I want to hear? Should I go back? Answer: The readings a psychic gives are never set in stone. You are in charge of your own destiny. A psychic may tell you that you will meet the love of your life in Santa Barbara, but if you refuse to get on the bus, it’s not the psychic’s fault you didn’t meet the love of your life. You have to use common sense and discernment no matter who you are dealing with, whether they are psychics, auto mechanics, attorneys or librarians. If this psychic came highly recommended, then there is a good chance she was right on the money, and somewhere along the line it was you who changed course. * * * * * * * Thank You for your support!
